Snack Time

Let's face it, wraps rule! Anything hand held is fun to eat in my opinion. This is once again, a versatile "blue print" of a recipe. It's actually not so much a recipe as it is a suggestion.

If you're watching your carb intake, this one is DEFINITELY for you since I used meat as means for the ingredient swaddling. And if you're not concerned with any such dietary restrictions, this baby still needs eating and is the poifect (yes, I meant to misspell perfect) snack!

The idea behind this particular snacky-snack was a bit like the "surf & turf" mentality take on food. Meaning that one compliments the other.

If you're not into snacks so much or enjoy hosting parties, slice each rolled wrap into fourths or fifths. They make a great little finger food/appetizer for parties. Stick a tooth pick in them, pile onto a platter, and Olé! Instant party.

Ingredients:
quarter of an Avocado
2 Garlic Cloves

hefty plucking of Alfalfa Sprouts
thinly sliced Red Onion
dribble of Herdez Tomatillo Sauce
squirt of French's Mustard

2 slices of Boar's Head Tavern Ham

I'm deeming these two wraps as a healthy/wealthy snack. Which one is the healthy and which is the wealthy? You be the judge. Meanwhile, I'll just be stuffing my face. Eat up, you buttercups.

Also, budgeting quick tip for the fellow, frugal cook. Whenever possible, buy this brand of spices instead of the pricey jarred variety:

You'll save a ton of money.

Use it or Lose it

A leftover lover's dream. Cleaning out the fridge and knowing that I need to conserve when money is tight is my specialty. (that's pronounced spess-ee-al-it-ee for all you fellow language sticklers out there)

It's just me and Jason (and of course the three extra mouths that Jason works and pays to feed) now. A hard and cold fact I've learned to accept for myself, is that cooking for one or two people is not very much fun. It's almost (in fact) a "joykill." That's just my opinion.

Anyways, this is enough to last me two meals. I've learned how to be a short order cook, budget for nine meals over the course of a 72hr time-length period... and it's only taken me around nine or so years to actually "get the hang of."

Pay attention to the proportions. The recipe is so interchangeable, flexible, and edible to your own personal taste. I just hope it comes in handy and/or is convenient for you when you have a little extra time on your hands to prepare and no money to see go to waste.

Ingredients:

Marinara (this part of the recipe is only required IF EATING IMMEDIATELY... otherwise cook, then reheat in the tomato.)

1/4lb. ground anything (turkey, beef, chicken, you name it)
1/2 Cup grated zucchini (squeezed dry)
1 egg
2 Cups bread crumbs (cut this amount in half if using dried and then eyeball til a sticky texture)

1/4teas ground turmeric (squirt of mustard works just as well)
1/4teas ground onion powder

1 pinch ground white pepper
2 pinches Kosher salt
1 fat of some sort (I used EVOO today)

Directions:

Heat fat over medium heat in a skillet.
Mix everything together.
Roll little balls of meat mixture.
Cook in fat. Turn. Roll em' around. Get crazy.
Douse in marinara. My Homemade Marinara

Eat up, you buttercups.

**Sorry no pictures during the cooking process. I didn't plan on blogging about this one. I do enjoy requests! Shout out to Brittnee Coomer!**
